Press release – Unlike domestic politicians, embassies in BiH respect human rights and the ruling of the Constitutional Court of BiH against discriminatory covid measures
After the announcement of one of the embassies in BiH that they will apply discriminatory covid measures to employees, including BiH citizens, and act differently based on vaccination status, BOSS warned that the epidemiological measures against the coronavirus are illegal, especially in the part where non-vaccinated persons are required tests because the virus is transmitted by both vaccinated and unvaccinated, in accordance with the verdict of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, number AP 3932/21 of 23.2.2022. according to the appeal of lawyer Mirnes Ajanović.
Due to the lack of reaction, on the authority of a BiH employee at the embassy who requested the protection of his rights, lawyer Mirnes Ajanović officially addressed the embassy, informing the embassy administration in detail of the provisions of the aforementioned judgment of the Constitutional Court of BiH. This friendly embassy reacted in a timely manner and made a decision to cancel the covid measures, thus proving that foreign ambassadors in BiH respect the decisions of the Constitutional Court of BiH, and thus the state of BiH.
This positive example and another proof that human rights are an inviolable category is a warning to local politicians and everyone else that respect for human rights should not be questioned, especially when extremely stronger countries than ours respect the decision of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. At the same time, this is a final warning that domestic actors must start respecting the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
We would like to thank the embassy in question for its quick reaction in protecting human rights and setting an example of behavior for all other embassies and institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
